EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision was reached during meetings held in Vancouver, where all 54 CAF member associations agreed on a common position, giving Infantino early backing ahead of the formal election process.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Africa’s football leadership said, “The CAF Member Associations unanimously agreed to support Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as President of FIFA for the period 2027-2031.”
The endorsement marks a strong show of unity from the continent and positions Infantino with significant early momentum. Since assuming office in 2016, the Swiss-Italian administrator has overseen major reforms in global football, including the expansion of international tournaments and increased financial support to member associations.
CAF’s backing is widely regarded as influential due to Africa’s large voting bloc within FIFA’s Congress. Securing the support of all 54 member associations strengthens Infantino’s position as other confederations prepare to declare their stance.

The next FIFA presidential election is expected to take place in Morocco. If re-elected, Infantino could remain in office until 2031, following FIFA’s ruling that his initial term does not count towards the organisation’s 12-year limit.
