A Magistrate’s Court in Ogba has ordered the remand of a woman accused of assaulting her 15-year-old daughter in the Ipaja area of the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the defendant was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The incident came to public attention after a viral video showed the alleged abuse, prompting swift intervention by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.
Authorities said the agency activated the state’s response protocol immediately the report was received. The teenager was rescued by the Child Protection Unit of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and placed in a shelter, where she is currently receiving care and support.
The suspect was arrested by officers of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and taken to the Ipaja Police Station before the case was transferred to the Family Support Unit of the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation.

Following the investigation, the matter was filed in court and heard at the Samuel Ilori Magistrate’s Court in Ogba on April 30, 2026.
The Lagos State Government commended residents and mandated reporters whose actions led to the rescue of the victim and ensured the case progressed through the legal process.
Officials also reiterated the state’s zero-tolerance policy on child abuse, stressing that perpetrators would be held accountable while victims receive protection and support.
