The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman for allegedly faking the abduction of her two-month-old baby and selling the child for ₦1.5 million to a pastor in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Command, led by the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, disclosed that the woman had on Monday, December 15, reported that gunmen forcefully abducted her baby while she was in a tricycle and pushed her out.

However, following swift investigations by the Effurun Area Commander, ACP Aliyu Shaba, and his team, the baby was recovered and facts later emerged that the abduction had been staged by the mother.

Police investigations revealed that the woman allegedly sold the baby to a cleric in the area, contradicting her earlier claim of a violent abduction.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development in a WhatsApp message sent to journalists in Warri.
“Confirmed,” Edafe said, without providing further details.
The police said investigations into the incident were ongoing.
