Former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has dismissed claims questioning the registration of the National Democratic Congress, urging Nigerians to ignore what he described as misleading narratives.
In a statement shared on his X account on Monday, Eko Hot Blog reports that Dickson expressed confidence in the party’s growing acceptance nationwide, attributing its rise to the coming together of experienced political figures with strong grassroots support.

He explained that the process of registering the party did not begin recently, noting that efforts date back to 2017 when initial approval was granted by the Independent National Electoral Commission before being suspended.

According to him, the party revisited its application after the resumption of political party registration in 2025, updating its documents to meet current requirements.
Dickson said the NDC is being built as a structured and ideology driven platform focused on long term national development, with emphasis on inclusion, mentorship, and public service.
He also highlighted the party’s intention to create opportunities for young people and women, stressing that it is designed to serve both ordinary citizens and established political actors.

While acknowledging that political movements often face criticism and misinformation, Dickson urged the public not to be distracted by rumours or propaganda about the party or its leadership.
He called on Nigerians to participate actively by registering with the party and contributing to its growth, adding that the NDC aims to provide a platform for citizens interested in shaping the country’s future.
