Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have been drawn in a challenging Group B at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, where they will face France, Hungary and South Korea.

Nigeria, ranked eighth globally, head into the tournament with growing confidence following a series of impressive performances on the international stage. The team will be aiming to build on its rising profile and compete strongly against top-ranked opposition.
Hungary and South Korea complete the group lineup, both teams known for their competitiveness and ability to produce unpredictable results. Their presence adds further intensity to the group, making qualification a demanding task for all sides involved.
Head coach Rena Wakama led D’Tigress to qualification after securing a historic fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, reaffirming Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s basketball. The achievement also secured their place at the global tournament.
In other groups, host nation Germany will compete in Group A alongside Japan, Spain and Mali. Group C features Belgium, Australia, Puerto Rico and Turkey.
Defending champions United States have been drawn in Group D, where they will face China, the Czech Republic and Italy as they begin their title defence.
