Nwifuru made the appeal during a democracy thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
The event was attended by government officials, political stakeholders, religious leaders, lawmakers and members of the ruling party in the state.
Addressing the congregation, the governor acknowledged that his administration, members of the National Assembly from Ebonyi State and lawmakers in the State House of Assembly may not have fully met the expectations of the people.
He appealed for understanding and another opportunity to continue serving the state.
“Please forgive us; forgive me and the National Assembly members and the House of Assembly members. Forgive our shortcomings and vote for us again,” Nwifuru said.
The governor noted that governance remained a continuous process that required humility, patience and the support of the people. According to him, elected officials can only perform better when citizens remain committed to the development and progress of the state.
Reflecting on his three years in office, Nwifuru expressed gratitude to God for what he described as the achievements recorded by his administration since assuming office.
He stated that no government could claim perfection but maintained that his administration remained focused on improving the welfare of residents and delivering more democratic dividends across the state.
According to the governor, his government has continued to implement policies and programmes aimed at expanding infrastructure, improving public service delivery and strengthening governance.
He added that lessons learned over the past three years would help shape future policies and enable the administration to serve the people more effectively during the remainder of its tenure.
Nwifuru also reaffirmed his commitment to completing ongoing projects and introducing new initiatives designed to improve the quality of life of Ebonyi residents.
Among the dignitaries at the thanksgiving service were the Minister of Works and former governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, and former governor Martin Elechi.

Serving senators, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, government officials and other stakeholders were also in attendance.
