Eko Hot Blog reports that the event, held within the premises of the police station, brought together worshippers from different Christian denominations to celebrate the season of Christmas through songs of praise, prayers, and thanksgiving.
Speaking during his welcome address, the Divisional Police Officer of Epe Division, CSP Ayeni Benjamin, returned all glory to Almighty God for the sustained peace and security the residents of Epe have enjoyed since his assumption of duty.
He also commended the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, for what he described as his effective leadership, innovative security strategies, and commitment to crime prevention across the state.
Opening his address with the gospel song “All the glory must be to the Lord,” CSP Benjamin reflected on the transformation of Epe, noting that the town was once widely labelled as a haven for cultism and criminal activities.
According to him, the narrative has changed significantly since his arrival, a development he attributed to divine intervention and strategic policing.
“I sincerely appreciate Almighty God, the King of Glory, for the peace Epe has continued to enjoy since I came here,” he said.
“Despite the negative perception that Epe was the headquarters of cultism and other crimes, there has been no record of cult activities, kidnapping, or banditry during my time, even when such incidents were reported in other areas.”
The DPO further disclosed that the division recently benefited from a newly commissioned edifice equipped with modern facilities, alongside the deployment of a special tactical team approved by the Commissioner of Police.
He noted that the presence of the CP’s Tactical Team has strengthened security operations and enhanced response effectiveness in the area.
“I am deeply grateful to God for answering the prayers I offered concerning Epe,” he added. “The support of the Commissioner of Police and the provision of modern security assets have greatly improved our operations.”
CSP Benjamin also expressed appreciation to royal fathers, community leaders, and stakeholders in Epe for their continued cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force.
He urged residents to celebrate Christmas responsibly, advising against excessive spending and encouraging vigilance during the festive period.
“Christmas marks the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, and it should be celebrated with faith and moderation,” he said.
“Residents should remain security conscious, avoid staying out late, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police. I pray that we all witness the coming year in good health and abundant blessings.”
The DPO noted that the Christmas Carol and Praise Night was not new to him, explaining that he initiated a similar programme during his posting in Ota, Ogun State, and that the event was simultaneously held there and at Panti Police Station in Lagos on the same day.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria, Epe Division, for their support in making the maiden edition a success. His wife, Mrs. Ruth Benjamin, was also present at the event.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Epe Chapter, Pastor Ibukun Daniel, commended CSP Benjamin for the initiative, describing it as timely and commendable.
He praised the police for their role in safeguarding lives and property in Epe and called on residents to remain law-abiding and supportive of the police to strengthen community policing.
“This initiative deserves commendation,” he said. “The police have played a vital role in maintaining peace in Epe, and the community must continue to support them, especially during this festive season and beyond.”
The highlight of the event was the ministration on the theme “The King of Glory,” delivered by CSP Benjamin and Pastor Christopher Jacob, who represented the guest minister, Pastor Adetoro Bank Omotoye, Group Pastor of Christ Embassy, Epe Central.
Scriptures from Psalm 24, Colossians Chapter 1, John Chapter 1, and other biblical passages were referenced to remind the congregation of God’s supremacy as the King of Glory, the Healer, Provider, and Commander of heaven and earth.
Praise and worship sessions were led by several choirs, including the Christian Police Fellowship of Nigeria Choir, Christ Apostolic Church Healing Parish Choir, Glorious Voice Choir, Solution Ground Choir, Celestial Church of Christ Cathedral Epe 1 Choir, C&S Calvary Parish Choir, and the RCCG Choir, among others.
Other ministers of God who ministered at the praise-filled night included the CPFN Coordinator, Area J Police Command; the CPFN Epe Coordinator, Sister Clara; Prophet Odus, popularly known as Shine-Shine, from Ikorodu; Pastor Silas of Transformed Ministry; Pastor Asekun of Deeper Life Christian Fellowship; Pastor Ayodele Adebayo; and Rev. Nwafor, among others.
The maiden Annual Christmas Carol and Praise Night ended on a note of thanksgiving and renewed commitment to peace, strengthening the bond between the police and the Epe community while reinforcing faith as a pillar for harmony and security.
