Eko Hot Blog reports that the Chairman described the act as a serious violation of traffic laws that endangers lives and property. He emphasized that the reckless practice not only disrupts traffic flow but also increases the risk of accidents involving motorists, pedestrians, and other road users.
“Driving against traffic is unlawful and highly dangerous. It exposes innocent road users to avoidable accidents and tragic consequences.
As a responsible and responsive administration, we will not tolerate any act that threatens public safety. Henceforth, any individual found culpable will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Hon. Akinloye warned.
The Chairman revealed that the Council, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, will step up monitoring and enforcement across the LCDA to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
He further urged residents, commercial transport operators, and private vehicle owners to exercise civic responsibility and adhere strictly to traffic rules, noting that road discipline is a shared responsibility vital for public safety.
“Everyone has a role to play in maintaining order on our roads. By obeying traffic laws, we are protecting lives and contributing to a safer community,” he added.
Hon. Akinloye reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to public safety, environmental order, and sustainable development in line with the THEMES Agenda of Lagos State Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
The Council therefore urges all road users to act responsibly, respect traffic regulations, and work together to make Eredo LCDA a safe and orderly environment for all.
