Sources noted that officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) had recently visited the university for a meningitis awareness campaign. However, it remains uncertain if the disease was responsible for the earlier fatalities.

Confirming the deaths, KSUSTA’s registrar, Maimaru Alhaji Tilli, stated that the cause remains unknown.

“Yes, four students have died according to our records, but we do not yet know the cause. However, we recognize the urgent need to decongest student accommodations,” Tilli said.

He further revealed that the university had formally written to the Ministry of Higher Education, particularly Commissioner Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, seeking guidance on preventive measures.
