Fresh concerns have emerged in Jabo town, Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, following the discovery of additional objects suspected to be explosive devices, days after a United States airstrike in the area.

Residents disclosed that while excavating the area, a metal object similar to the earlier suspected bomb was sighted, prompting an immediate halt to further digging over fears that it could be an unexploded ordnance.
Authorities have since warned members of the public to stay away from the area and avoid inspecting or attempting to excavate any suspicious objects until security personnel with the required expertise arrive to secure and clear the site.
“The public has been advised to completely vacate the area and keep off until the suspected explosive devices are safely handled,” a security source said.
The Nigerian Police have confirmed the deployment of a team of explosives experts to Jabo town to investigate the buried objects believed to be bombs discovered close to the location of the US airstrikes. Security operatives have cordoned off the affected areas and stepped up surveillance to prevent civilian access.

Meanwhile, the US airstrikes reportedly targeted Lakurawa terrorist camps in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, forcing many of the terrorists to flee. Local residents said the strikes hit a Lakurawa camp in Tandami village, near the border with Illela Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of several suspected terrorists.
Following the operation, authorities have reportedly issued security alerts to neighbouring states, warning that fleeing Lakurawa fighters may attempt to relocate across state lines. The states have been advised to heighten security measures and take necessary precautions to prevent possible spillover attacks.
Security agencies say investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to ensure the safety of residents and restore calm in the affected communities.
