Fulani Herdsmen Kill Gov. Akeredolu’s Media Aide Cousin
Tragedy struck in Ajowa Community in Akoko North West Local Area of Ondo State on Friday when one David Ibiye was dastardly murdered by vicious Fulani herdsmen.
Ekohotblog gathered that Ibiye, who was a farmer and cousin to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on New Media, Gani Muhammed-Ajowa, was killed in his farm in Ajowa community.
Ibiye was said to have been killed after a confrontation ensued between him and the herdsmen over his refusal to allow the overbearing herders encroach on his farm in order to feed their cattles. .
According to Ajowa, his cousin was attacked by four Fulani herdsmen 24 hours after he was trailed to the farm by his assailants for denying them access to his farmland.
He disclosed that the herdsmen overwhelmed him and twisted his neck backward to kill him after the machete they initially used on him failed to penetrate.
Ajowa said, “He (Late Ibiye) on Thursday was working on his farm when Fulani herdsmen were trying to enter his farm but warned them.
“He told them to go to the bush but not people’s farm but the herdsmen said that they can enter anywhere including his farm which he dared not to try.
“They now threatened him that they can always enter the farm when he’s no longer alive and they left.
“But on Friday, they trailed him to his farm and attacked him. They macheted him but didn’t not penetrate. That was when they descended on him and twisted his neck to the back.
“After the incident, I told those who were with him during the incident incident but managed to escaped not to go back to the farm alone. When I was called, I advised them to go with the police in the area to retrieve his body.”
When contacted, the Police Spokesperson in the state, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the incident stated that investigation had begun into the development.
The death of Ibiye was coming barely 24 hours after a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, was also killed by bandits suspected to be herdsmen in Iju Community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
