- Citing Sections 1 and 14 of the Nigerian Constitution, the group declared any attempt to manipulate electoral outcomes as a direct assault on the nation’s democratic foundation.
- COSEYL issued a stern warning to individuals and institutions planning to rig elections in the South-East, urging security agencies to remain neutral and fulfill their duty to maintain law and order.

The initiative is aimed at empowering citizens to resist electoral fraud and demand total transparency from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders.
According to the group, the move is a response to historical concerns regarding the sanctity of the vote in Nigeria.
Ibem emphasized that the Constitution explicitly guarantees the people’s right to participate in their government, making any form of interference illegal and unacceptable.
The coalition intends to mobilize youth and community members to act as “democratic defenders,” ensuring that the will of the people is not compromised by those seeking to gain power through unconstitutional means.
Beyond citizen engagement, the group extended a clear warning to security agencies.
Highlighting Section 215 of the Constitution, COSEYL reminded the police and other armed forces that their mandate is to protect the public and uphold the law, not to aid or abet electoral malpractice.

The coalition stated that it will remain vigilant throughout the election cycle, promising that any attempt to “rig the South-East” will be met with firm, lawful resistance from the empowered electorate.
