Addressing the prolonged electricity challenge facing Epe and its surrounding communities, Ikuforiji described the situation as a major concern that has continued to affect residents, businesses, and socio-economic activities across the division.
According to him, the unstable power supply has remained a source of concern to traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders who have continued to seek lasting solutions to the problem.
“The issue of electricity in Epe Division is one that concerns all of us. It affects our businesses, our homes, our educational institutions, and the overall development of the division.”
The former Speaker revealed that resolving the electricity challenge is among the key developmental issues receiving attention from the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial flagbearer in Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
He expressed confidence that the power situation in Epe Division would receive the necessary attention if Hamzat emerges as the next Governor of Lagos State.
“Dr. Obafemi Hamzat understands the challenges facing Epe Division, particularly the electricity situation, and he is committed to finding sustainable solutions that will improve the lives of our people.”
Ikuforiji further noted that the emergence of an indigene of Epe Division as governor would provide greater opportunities for accelerated development and attract more government interventions to the area.
He therefore appealed to residents and stakeholders across the division to support Hamzat’s governorship ambition, describing it as a collective opportunity for Epe to advance its developmental aspirations.
“We have a unique opportunity before us. Supporting Dr. Hamzat is not just about politics; it is about positioning Epe Division for greater development and ensuring our people benefit from increased government attention.”
The GAC member also spoke on the Obaship tussle in Eko-Epe Kingdom, a matter that has generated widespread discussions and public interest over the past year.
While commenting on the issue, Ikuforiji emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, respecting due process, and allowing lawful mechanisms to address matters relating to traditional institutions.
“The peace and unity of Epe Kingdom should remain paramount. Whatever differences exist should be resolved through dialogue, respect for tradition, and adherence to established procedures.”
He urged all parties involved in the matter to place the interest of the kingdom above personal considerations and work towards preserving the harmony and dignity of the ancient town.
