The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has said that there was no directive asking herdsmen to leave Ondo State or any part of the South West region.
The directive given by the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, according to the NGF, was misconstrued in the media as it was only directed at the state’s reserve including registration.
Chairman of NGF and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, disclosed the Governors’ position in Akure at a meeting with the national leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

Fayemi admitted that the statement generated a lot of controversies which led to what he described as an unfortunate development in Oyo State.
He said Akeredolu didn’t talk about herdsmen vacating the state but about registration of herdsmen who want to operate within the reserves.
The Ekiti Governor said they are after curbing the activities of criminals and not fulani herdsmen.
Eko Hot Blog recalls that the Ondo State Governor had directed herdsmen in the state to vacate its reserves and also imposed a ban on midnight grazing.
