The Lagos State Police Command has urged residents to remain calm following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing Fulani men arrested with arms and ammunition in Ikorodu, clarifying that the incident occurred three years ago and does not reflect the current security situation in Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement, the police described the recirculation of the old video as misleading and capable of creating unnecessary fear, panic, and apprehension among members of the public.

The command stressed that the footage is outdated and should not be linked to recent security concerns within Ikorodu or any other part of the state.
According to the police, the renewed circulation of the video comes at a time when residents are already expressing concerns over security-related reports, making it important to verify information before sharing it on social media platforms.

The command urged residents to disregard the video and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of undermining public peace and confidence.
It also warned social media users, bloggers, and content creators against disseminating false, unverified, and alarmist reports, noting that individuals found deliberately spreading misinformation could face investigation and prosecution under existing laws.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has ordered the sustained deployment of officers and operational assets to strategic locations, black spots, and entry and exit points across Lagos State.
The police said the security measures are being implemented in collaboration with other security and safety agencies to strengthen public safety and maintain law and order across the state.
Residents were encouraged to go about their lawful activities without fear, while remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.
The command further emphasised that timely and credible information from members of the public remains vital in preventing crime and enhancing security across Lagos.
