Spain’s FIFA World Cup victory has propelled teenage sensation Lamine Yamal to the top of the latest Ballon d’Or 2026 power rankings.
The Barcelona winger has emerged as the leading favourite for football’s most prestigious individual award after playing a pivotal role in Spain’s successful World Cup campaign, which ended with a 1-0 extra time victory over Argentina in the final.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Yamal’s outstanding performances throughout the tournament strengthened his credentials, placing him ahead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who occupies second position in the latest rankings.
England captain Harry Kane is ranked third following another impressive year for club and country.
Reigning Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembélé, who won the award in 2025, is fourth on the list, while his France teammate Kylian Mbappé completes the top five.
France international Michael Olise is ranked sixth, followed by England midfield duo Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice in seventh and eighth places respectively.
Norway and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland sits ninth, while Georgia winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia rounds off the top 10.

With Spain crowned world champions and Yamal emerging as one of the standout performers of the tournament, the 19 year old now appears well positioned to secure his first Ballon d’Or, although performances during the remainder of the year are expected to influence the final voting.
