The Red Devils are anticipated to make a bid during the upcoming summer transfer window, as they are poised to receive financial support with Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to acquire a 25% minority stake in the club.
The Premier League has granted approval for the transaction, which is expected to be finalized by next week at the latest.
The influx of funds from Ratcliffe’s INEOS investment is seen as a solution to Manchester United’s Financial Fair Play concerns for the summer window, enabling them to reinforce the team significantly.
Ratcliffe has already given the green light for United’s pursuit of Michael Olise, with a release clause around €70 million.
Additionally, manager Erik ten Hag aims to strengthen the squad by adding a new centre-back and an experienced striker to complement Rasmus Hojlund.
Victor Osimhen is identified as a priority for the striking role, despite being pursued by other clubs.
Chelsea has been considered a frontrunner, but Manchester United remains in contention, especially with the financial backing and potential Champions League qualification.
Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli in the summer, having recently extended his contract with a new release clause in the range of €120 million to €130 million.
