The record attempt, which begins on March 15, will see her travel across Antarctica, Australia, and the remaining continents in a bid to complete the journey in record time.
Asinobi, who has already visited over 30 countries across five continents, is undertaking the challenge not only as a personal milestone but also to highlight the issue of passport privilege and the difficulties faced by many Africans in global travel.
Speaking on the motivation behind her record attempt, she revealed the significant hurdles she encountered in securing the necessary travel documents. “I had to apply for more than 10 visas and faced multiple rejections—two of them denied a total of five times.
The process has been mentally and financially draining, and once I recover from it all, I plan to speak in detail about the second-class treatment imposed on citizens of low-mobility passport nations,” she said.
The current record is held by Indian travelers Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Ali Irani, who completed the journey in 3 days, 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 4 seconds in December 2022.
Asinobi’s attempt carries a deeper significance beyond setting a new record. “I am pushing the limits of what is possible with one of the world’s lowest-ranking passports to prove that, despite the challenges, Africans can still achieve their dreams. At the same time, I want to bring global attention to an issue that affects millions of people, both on the continent and in the diaspora.
