Obi secured the party’s ticket unopposed after emerging as the only aspirant to obtain and submit the presidential expression of interest form.

Following the completion of the nomination process, the former Anambra State governor underwent screening by a presidential screening panel headed by former governor and senator, Sam Egwu.
The committee subsequently cleared him to contest, paving the way for his formal affirmation at the party’s convention.

Party officials say the gathering will bring together delegates and stakeholders from across the country to ratify Obi’s candidature ahead of preparations for the 2027 election campaign.
The convention is expected to mark a significant step in the NDC’s efforts to position itself for the next electoral cycle.
