EKO HOT BLOG reports that Wike made the remark on Monday during a media chat with selected journalists. The former Rivers State governor expressed confidence in his national appeal, citing his record in Rivers State and the FCT.
He said his achievements in public office speak for him and have strengthened his connection with ordinary Nigerians.
“Nigerians still love me, and if I run for the presidential election, they will vote for me massively,” he said.
Wike also stated that even if the recently concluded area council election in the FCT is repeated, candidates loyal to him would still emerge victorious.
Meanwhile, the minister defended the curfew imposed ahead of the February 21 area council elections in Abuja. He insisted that the decision fell within his powers and was approved by President Bola Tinubu.
Wike described himself as the “governor of the FCT” and maintained that he has the authority to take security decisions, including restricting movement when necessary.

He dismissed criticisms over the restriction of human and vehicular movement from 8 pm on Friday to 6 pm on Saturday, stating that the measure was strictly for security reasons.
