As the day progresses, thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are expected to spread to Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa and Taraba states.
For the North Central region, NiMet predicted morning thunderstorms over parts of Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with rainfall extending to Kogi and Benue later in the day.
In the southern region, moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Ondo, Ogun, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos and Bayelsa during the morning, with more widespread rainfall anticipated across the region in the afternoon and evening.
On Sunday, the agency forecast morning thunderstorms over Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Adamawa and Taraba, before extending to Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Katsina and Kaduna later in the day.
North Central states, including Niger, Kwara and the FCT, are also expected to experience moderate rainfall on Sunday, while southern states such as Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Rivers could witness light rainfall in the morning followed by heavier showers later in the day.
By Monday, NiMet predicted partly cloudy conditions across the northern region, with light rainfall expected over Bauchi, Jigawa and Yobe in the morning before thunderstorms become more widespread in the afternoon and evening.

The agency also forecast sunny conditions with patches of cloud across the North Central region during the morning, followed by moderate rainfall across the zone later in the day.
In the South, cloudy weather is expected, with light rainfall likely over Edo, Cross River, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Rivers before more widespread thunderstorms develop.
NiMet warned that strong winds could accompany thunderstorms and advised residents to secure loose objects to minimise damage.
The agency also cautioned that persistent rainfall in coastal states could trigger flash flooding and urged residents to avoid driving or walking through flooded roads.
It further advised motorists to avoid travelling during heavy rainfall, while households were encouraged to disconnect electrical appliances during storms and stay away from tall trees because of the risk of falling branches.
NiMet also urged airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather information for safe flight planning and encouraged the public to keep track of official weather updates.
