The clarification followed the circulation of an online publication alleging that a member of the kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa was apprehended in connection with an attempt on the President’s life. The report, which did not cite any credible source or verifiable details, quickly gained traction on social media and triggered widespread speculation.
Responding to an enquiry, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Tope Ajayi, denied the claim.
“Fake,” Ajayi said in a brief response when contacted on the matter.
The Presidency did not provide further details but maintained that the report was entirely untrue.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the 2023 general election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, described the emergence of President Tinubu as “a painful lesson from God” rather than a divine blessing.
Adebayo made the remark on Saturday in Kano during a Ramadan Iftar organised by the AAFAQ Foundation. He urged Nigerians to reflect on the state of the nation and prioritise justice and unity.
Recalling his campaign visit to Kano four years ago, the former SDP flag bearer said he had foreseen that the country was heading into a challenging period.

The separate developments come amid heightened political debate and public scrutiny of the current administration.
