Eko Hot Blog reports that the sensitisation exercise was conducted under the Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) admission programme, an initiative designed to equip young people with practical and industry-relevant skills.
The programme for Epe youths is sponsored by Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency I, in line with his commitment to youth empowerment and human capital development.
Speaking during the awareness drive, Hon. Tobun said the TVET programme offers youths hands-on training in key sectors such as engineering, construction, business, and information technology.
“The programme is structured to provide practical skills that will make our youths employable and self-reliant,” he said.
He listed available training areas to include welding and fabrication, automobile mechanics, electrical and solar installations, plumbing and pipe fitting, furniture making and carpentry, computer and GSM maintenance, catering, printing, and other vocational skills.
Hon. Tobun also highlighted incentives attached to the programme, including free tuition and examinations, monthly stipends, dual certification, and post-graduation grants with job opportunities.
According to NYCN Epe, these benefits are designed to reduce financial pressure on parents and guardians while positioning beneficiaries for economic independence and long-term career growth.
The council commended Hon. Tobun for his consistent support for youth-focused initiatives and for bringing the TVET opportunity closer to the grassroots.
It further urged parents, guardians, and youths in Epe to take advantage of the programme by registering promptly, noting that available slots are limited.
The TVET admission has commenced and is expected to positively impact the socio-economic development of Epe and Lagos State.
NYCN Epe reaffirmed its commitment to advocating policies and programmes that empower youths and promote sustainable development.
