“We make sure our children are taught about their heritage. Some schools now observe traditional days where students learn about our customs, dressing, and masquerades. This is how we sustain our culture,” he stated.
Epe, known for its rich traditions and festivals, also holds significant potential in the tourism sector.
The monarch emphasized the role of local attractions in boosting the economy. “Our beach alone is a major tourism attraction, and it is the best in Nigeria.
We also have several traditional festivals that draw visitors,” he said.
Oba Animashaun further expressed support for granting traditional rulers a constitutional role in governance.
“Traditional rulers play a crucial role at the grassroots level, and we should be recognized for that. The present government is already working on this, and I believe we will have a more defined role in governance soon,” he noted.
On security, the Oloja praised the collaborative efforts between local vigilantes and government security agencies, which he said have helped maintain peace in Epe.
