Eko Hot Blog reports that the Ogun State Police Command has issued a chilling warning about kidnappers employing new tactics to ambush victims at residential gates.

In an interview, Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola revealed a rise in abductions in Ogun East due to this ploy.

“They lay in wait at the gates of their unsuspecting victims,” Odutola stated, describing the kidnappers’ modus operandi.

Abduction at the Gate A recent incident in Ikenne saw a man abducted right at his gate, with the kidnappers driving away his car with his baby inside.

Similarly, Nimota Busari was kidnapped while her children were thrown out of the vehicle.

Targeting Remote Areas Odutola advised residents in remote areas to avoid traveling at night and return home before dusk to mitigate risks.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed business owners and residents in new or remote areas to ensure they return home before dusk,” she added.

Increased Patrols and Tough Measures To combat the threat, the police have deployed additional patrols to identified hotspots and are intensifying efforts to dismantle the kidnapping syndicates.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, assured that tougher measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of Ogun State residents.
