Peoples Democratic Party has begun its nationwide screening exercise for aspirants seeking to contest under the party’s platform in the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the exercise, which commenced on Tuesday, covers aspirants for legislative offices as well as governorship and presidential positions.

In a statement, the party said screening for aspirants contesting Senate, House of Representatives and state assembly seats was taking place simultaneously at designated centres across the country.

It added that the screening of governorship and presidential hopefuls was being conducted centrally in Abuja.
The party described the exercise as part of preparations for the 2027 polls and aimed at evaluating aspirants seeking elective offices on its platform.
Meanwhile, a faction of the PDP aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier disclosed that a total of 3,181 aspirants would participate in the screening process.
The group announced the development in a statement posted on its X account while unveiling members of screening committees and appeal panels.
According to the figures released, 2,122 aspirants are seeking tickets for state Houses of Assembly, while 748 are contesting for seats in the House of Representatives.

The statement added that 198 aspirants are vying for Senate tickets, 112 are seeking governorship nominations, while one individual is contesting for the party’s presidential ticket.
The faction said the exercise followed the timetable and schedule approved by the party’s National Executive Committee during its 104th meeting.
It also confirmed the inauguration of screening and appeal panels to oversee the process ahead of the elections.
