EKO HOT BLOG reports that the resolution was reached at the 105th meeting of the NEC held in Abuja on Monday. Members unanimously ratified all decisions taken at the party’s emergency 104th NEC meeting of December 7, 2025, declaring them valid, subsisting and binding on all party organs and members.
The NEC also endorsed a recent judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, which upheld the legality of the PDP’s current leadership structure. Following the ruling, the committee formally directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise the Abdulrahman Muhammed led National Caretaker Committee as the lawful administrative authority of the party.
NEC urged all party organs, members and stakeholders to comply strictly with existing court judgments. It also called on INEC and other relevant institutions to respect and implement the court ruling in line with the law.
Reaffirming its position, the NEC declared that the National Caretaker Committee remains the only lawful national administrative organ of the PDP pending the conduct of a duly convened National Convention.
As part of preparations for the transition to an elected leadership, NEC approved a timetable for the conduct of nationwide congresses. Ward congresses are scheduled for February 2026, local government congresses will also hold in February 2026, while state congresses are fixed for March 2026.
The caretaker committee was directed to issue detailed guidelines for the congresses in accordance with the PDP Constitution and INEC regulations. NEC further approved the extension of the tenure of caretaker committees at the national, state and zonal levels until the conclusion of the congresses and the National Convention.

In addition, the National Caretaker Committee was mandated to immediately commence preparations for the convention, including the constitution of sub committees and arrangement of logistics.
Calling for unity and discipline, NEC urged members to remain loyal and committed, stressing that the party is focused on restoring stability, strengthening internal democracy and repositioning the PDP as a strong and competitive platform ahead of future elections.
