EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP clarified that its current priority is to successfully organise a national convention aimed at repositioning the party for future political contests.
Ologunagba emphasised that the PDP remains committed to strengthening its internal unity, consolidating its structures, and preparing as a formidable opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The PDP is, for now, focused on building and consolidating attained unity, stability, and strengthening of its structures and capacity to play its roles as the leading opposition party, determined to return to power in 2027,” the statement read.
He explained that the party is actively working towards a successful national convention, which would revamp the PDP and further position it for national leadership.
While the PDP denied formally joining any coalition, the party stated that it remains open to collaborations with well-meaning individuals and groups who are committed to the mission of rescuing the country from what it described as the “rudderless and insensitive” All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.
“As a major opposition party with a strong presence and bond with Nigerians across the country, the PDP restates that it remains open to working with other like-minded citizens in the collective effort to rescue our nation from the stranglehold of the APC-led administration,” the statement added.

The PDP also appreciated Nigerians for their continued loyalty and assured that all necessary structures are being activated to restore the party’s winning form ahead of the 2027 elections.
