The Labour Party is set to host a fiercely competitive contest to determine its 2027 presidential candidate, with no automatic ticket reserved for any aspirant.
“Datti is as qualified as Peter Obi to contest for the presidency. So, that run is not for one person alone. It is an open contest,” he said.
The Labor Party leader then warned Obi’s inner circle that his association with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could cost him the party’s ticket.

In his words: “There is no need to romance with other parties. It may cost you the ticket. You cannot have a leg in LP and have another in a different party you may be disqualified.”
The development comes after Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the party’s 2023 Vice Presidential candidate, declared his interest in the 2027 presidential race, should Obi decide not to contest.
