Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), has refuted claims that the party plans to automatically field Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate, in the upcoming 2027 election.
Ifoh stated that the LP maintains a strong commitment to following established party guidelines and requirements for all candidates.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has clarified that he never displayed desperation for a “free ticket” or “special treatment” for the 2027 presidential election.

Eko Hot Blog reports that this statement comes in response to LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, who denied the party’s plans to field Obi, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and other 2023 candidates in the upcoming 2027 poll.

However, a recent announcement by the LP’s factional National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, has added further confusion to the situation.

Arabambi declared that the party intends to nominate Obi as their candidate to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Obiora Ifoh refuted claims that the party plans to automatically field Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate, in the upcoming 2027 election.

Ifoh stated that the LP maintains a strong commitment to following established party guidelines and requirements for all candidates.

However, when asked how Obi was taking the ‘no automatic ticket’ threat by Abure, Umar said his principal did not bother himself with such trivialities.
