APC Alleges Flaws In Plateau LG Elections, Vows To Challenge Results
The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has vehemently rejected the results of the local government elections held on Wednesday, describing the exercise as flawed and pledging to pursue legal action against its outcome.
At a press conference on Saturday at the party secretariat in Jos, the state capital, APC chairman Rufus Bature articulated the party’s position, stating unequivocally that they will not accept the election results.
Bature criticized the distribution of sensitive electoral materials to local government areas and their subsequent handling at various wards and polling units, asserting that these mismanagements undermined the integrity of the election process.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that He noted, “Election materials, particularly ballot papers, were grossly inadequate in polling units, especially in those perceived as APC strongholds, which were deliberately supplied with only 10% to 20% of what was required.”
He also highlighted the absence of results sheets in designated areas, attributing this to the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC).
Despite numerous complaints and representations made to electoral officers, he said, “Nothing changed.”
Bature further pointed to the supply of malfunctioning voting machines, which reportedly failed to operate for more than two hours in most polling units.
“This is a deliberate strategy to rig the election and disenfranchise voters. Alarmingly, some areas reported that elections did not take place at all, while there were instances of ballot stuffing in PDP strongholds. Despite these manipulations by PLASIEC and the PDP-led government, the people remained resolute and voted for their preferred candidates,” he asserted.
Bature also claimed that PLASIEC officials, particularly returning officers, absconded from their duties, failing to collate results as required by law.
He urged party supporters to remain calm and steadfast, assuring them that the APC would do everything possible to reclaim its mandates.
