The Lagos State Police Command has opened a homicide investigation following the death of a site engineer, Badmos Olatunji Monsor, who was allegedly killed by suspected land grabbers in the Agidingbi area of Ikeja.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the violent attack also left 15 people injured and three construction workers unaccounted for.
Eyewitnesses reported that armed men stormed the construction site, sparking chaos among workers and residents.

According to sources, the group of attackers, including suspected land thugs, was allegedly accompanied by officers from the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team and two individuals identified as Alhaji Garba and Demola, said to be a personal assistant.
During the invasion, the assailants reportedly fired shots and assaulted workers using cutlasses, iron rods, charms, and other dangerous weapons. Although many workers attempted to escape, several were injured and one person was confirmed dead.
Residents of a nearby estate alerted the Alausa Police Division, but the attackers had already fled by the time officers arrived.
The lifeless body of the engineer was discovered at the scene, along with a firearm believed to have been left behind by the assailants.
Following the incident, four workers employed by the deceased engineer were arrested and are currently in police custody.
A senior officer from Area F confirmed the arrests and revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Owohunwa Jimoh, has personally questioned the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances behind the attack.
The land involved in the dispute was reportedly allocated to WGC Company by the Lagos State Government, according to two official allocation letters dated December 18, 2024, and October 13, 2023.
Represented by Alhaji Akeem Osuolale, WGC has filed petitions with both the Inspector General of Police and the state government, asserting rightful ownership of the plots measuring 7,500 and 10,650 square meters along Lateef Jakande Road in Agidingbi.
In reaction to the incident, the Lagos State Government has instructed the police to carry out a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice is delivered.
