EKO HOT BLOG reports that developed by Professor Isaiah Ilo of the Department of Theatre Arts, the platform guides users through topic selection, literature review, data analysis, citation management, manuscript development, and defence preparation while promoting academic integrity and originality.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, represented by the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Professor Kazeem Waziri, said the innovation aligns with the institution’s commitment to research excellence.
According to him, Thesis-SpeedWrite is not intended to replace critical thinking or the role of academic supervisors but to serve as a support system that helps researchers overcome common challenges in scholarly writing.
“Many students do not struggle because they lack intelligence. Often they struggle because they lack structure,” he said, adding that the platform could become a valuable academic development tool when used responsibly.
The Vice Chancellor noted that while AI is transforming how knowledge is created and shared, universities must ensure the technology strengthens rather than weakens academic standards.
Delivering the keynote address, the Secretary of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Gwa Mohammed, said Africa has an opportunity to play a leading role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution through the adoption of AI technologies.
He praised the platform for providing a transparent and structured research workflow while allowing supervisors to monitor students’ progress.

Founder of the platform, Professor Ilo, said Thesis-SpeedWrite was developed to address long-standing challenges in research writing, including weak methodology, poor literature management, and inconsistent supervision.
He described the platform as a structured academic environment designed to simplify research while preserving scholarly discipline and accountability.
