Police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed their arrest in a statement issued on Friday, saying the suspects are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the September 28, 2025 attack that claimed several lives.
At least 12 residents, including the Baale of Ogba-Ayo, were killed during the incident, while several others were abducted by the assailants.
“They are currently in custody and undergoing investigation,” Ejire-Adeyemi said.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, has attributed the rising cases of kidnapping in parts of the state to local informants aiding criminal gangs.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Friday, Ojo lamented that some residents fail to promptly report abductions to security agencies, often choosing to negotiate and pay ransoms in secret.
“When people’s relatives are kidnapped, the abductors threaten them not to inform the police. Out of fear, they go ahead to pay ransom quietly instead of seeking police help,” he said.
“We are encouraging residents to speak up and trust the police with timely information to curb this menace.”
The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven operations to root out criminal networks across the state.
