Police Vows to Ban Shiite Protests Following Deadly Clash in Abuja
The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benneth Igweh, has strongly condemned the killing of police officers during a clash between law enforcement and members of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), commonly known as Shiites.
Igweh expressed deep concern over the violence, stating that the Shiite members’ actions amount to a declaration of war against security forces. He vowed that the attack on officers and the injuries sustained by others will not be tolerated, asserting that Sunday’s events will be the last protest or procession by the Shiites in the FCT.
