President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Kenya following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga at the age of 80.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement, President Tinubu described Odinga as a towering figure in African politics, praising his lifelong commitment to democracy, justice, and national unity, which left an indelible mark on Kenya and the continent.

The Nigerian President highlighted Odinga’s courage in the face of adversity, his resilience in pursuing electoral reforms, and his unwavering belief in the power of the people as enduring sources of inspiration for future generations.
“His legacy will endure in the institutions he helped to shape and the democratic ideals he championed,” Tinubu said.
“We mourn with Kenya in this moment of national grief and stand in solidarity with you, President William Ruto, as you lead your nation through this painful chapter.”

He also noted that Odinga embodied the spirit of Pan-Africanism and was a steadfast advocate for inclusive governance and regional cooperation.
Odinga, who had been receiving treatment at a hospital in India, collapsed during a morning walk and was rushed to Devamatha Hospital, where he suffered a cardiac arrest. The hospital confirmed that resuscitation efforts failed, and he was pronounced dead at 09:52 local time (04:22 GMT).
