Ikeja Electric Plc has blamed the persistent power outages affecting parts of Lagos on reduced electricity allocation from the national grid.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement shared on its official X platform on Friday, the electricity distribution company apologised to customers over the ongoing disruptions, explaining that several communities within its network were impacted by the shortage in power supply.

“We sincerely regret the ongoing power supply challenges currently affecting some areas within our network due to reduced power allocation from the grid,” the company stated.
To manage the limited electricity supply, Ikeja Electric said it had introduced controlled load shedding across affected areas as part of efforts to maintain grid stability and ensure fair distribution of available power.
“As part of efforts to maintain grid stability and ensure equitable distribution of available power, temporary load shedding is being implemented across affected feeders and locations,” the company added.
The distribution company also noted that it was engaging relevant stakeholders within the electricity sector to improve supply and reduce the impact of the outages on consumers.

The latest development comes amid continued electricity shortages across Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, largely linked to gas supply challenges affecting power generation nationwide.
The outages are also occurring despite ongoing efforts by the Lagos State Government to expand embedded power generation and reduce dependence on the national grid.
