Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially commissioned the newly built Lagos State University (LASU) Library Complex, named after him, at the Ojo Campus, on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu addressed the gathering with heartfelt pride, describing the moment as deeply personal, not because the library bears his name, but because it reflects the values that shaped his lifelong advocacy for education.
“Education bridges potential and purpose,” he declared, emphasizing its power to transform lives and communities.

Meanwhile, this landmark project stands as a symbol of the Government’s continued investment in education, innovation, and digital advancement across tertiary institutions in Lagos state.

The governor celebrated the library as a living symbol of Lagos State’s investment in intellectual growth.
“Today we gather, not just to commission a building but to celebrate an idea that learning transforms destiny and libraries, though made out of steel and stones are truly built with dreams and determination. Albeit this library complex stand as a testament of Lagos state commitment to intellectual empowerment.”
Also, he mentioned that Lagos State University will serve as bridge between this generation and the one coming behind to change our world.

He praised the school’s evolution into a top-tier institution, now ranked as Nigeria’s best state university and the most sought-after among young scholars across the nation.
“This success stems from visionary leadership, dedicated faculty, and brilliant students who continue to make us proud,” he noted.
Furthermore, Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged his predecessors, Former Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode for initiating the project. He reaffirmed the current administration’s dedication under the THEMES agenda, where education and technology drive progress.
He, however emphasized that over the past six years, the government has investment resources into completing the library and other transformative initiatives.

Thereafter, he addressed the ongoing Eko Digital Initiative, mentioning that the LASU Technology Hub has been handed over alongside the Tunji Bello Auditorium and the project for the largest faculty building in LASU still in progress.
In addition, he commended the President of the former republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for aligning national efforts with Lagos’ educational vision through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The new library, equipped with digital research labs, e-learning spaces, and modern reading rooms, anchors LASU’s role as a hub for innovation and academic discovery.
“Leadership isn’t about writing names on walls—it’s about impact on lives. This library is not a monument to self, but a pledge to service,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The Governor charged lecturers, parents, and students to embrace the library as a sanctuary of learning and a citadel for future Nobel laureates, authors, and leaders.
“Let this space inspire bold thinking, deep reflection, and selfless service,” he said.
