In an ongoing effort to support vulnerable residents, the Lagos State Government has distributed financial aid to 250 beneficiaries through the Sanwo-Olu Listen Financial Assistance Programme.
Eko Hot Blog reports that during a recent event held at the Office of Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement in Alausa-Ikeja, Special Adviser Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen emphasized the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and responding to the needs of all Lagosians, particularly those in vulnerable situations.

He noted that the Sanwo-Olu Listen Financial Assistance Programme serves as a testament to the government’s determination to listen and provide essential assistance to those in need.
“This Administration remains committed to listening to the people. The programme is a reflection of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s open-door policy and compassionate leadership. We are here today because the governor heard your cries and decided to respond,” he said.
To also ensure that financial aid reaches those who need it most, Dr. Afolabi explained that beneficiaries were selected after a thorough evaluation process.
The review identified genuine cases in need of support, including individuals facing medical challenges, small-scale traders requiring a boost for their businesses, people struggling with house rent, and others experiencing severe economic hardship.

Dr. Afolabi urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and continue engaging with the government through appropriate channels. He emphasized Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s commitment to improving lives and fostering an inclusive environment where no one is left behind.
Recalling the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing by the Office of Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi announced that ₦1.6 billion had been allocated for the 2025 Financial Assistance Programme.
Beneficiary Taofeek Okunlola expressed his initial doubts about the initiative but was grateful to receive support when his small-scale business faced difficulties.
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Comfort Balogun, thanked the Lagos State Government, noting that the financial aid would help cover her child’s medical expenses.
The presentation was also attended by Engr. Sholabomi Shasore, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, as well as directors from the office.
