The annual lecture, themed “Good Representative,” focused on the core values of accountability, integrity, justice, humility, and selfless service as essential pillars of leadership.
The event served as a moral compass for elected officials, reminding them of their responsibility to lead with sincerity and fear of God.
Delivering the keynote address, Alhaji Abdul Hakeem Idunnu emphasized that leadership is a sacred trust that must be exercised with righteousness and devotion to the welfare of the people.
“Leadership is a trust from Allah, and every representative will be accountable for how that trust is managed,” he stated.
The Chief Host, Fadilat Sheikh Abdul Semiu Opeloyeru Ajayi, provided spiritual guidance throughout the programme and offered prayers for peace, unity, and sustained development in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos East, and Nigeria at large.
The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, was also in attendance, underscoring the synergy between federal and local authorities in fostering community growth and religious harmony.
Commending Senator Abiru for sustaining the annual Ramadan Lecture Series, Hon. Olowa described the initiative as impactful and timely.
“This lecture is a reminder that public office is not merely a position of power but a responsibility that demands integrity and the fear of God,” Olowa said.
He further urged elected representatives to reflect deeply on their mandate.
“As leaders, we must imbibe the fear of God and commit ourselves to being good representatives of our people,” he added.
Senator Abiru’s Ramadan Lecture Series has continued to serve as a unifying platform across Lagos East, promoting enlightenment, moral reflection, and solidarity among Muslim communities.
