World Cup Qualifiers: Super Eagles Face Backlash From Rapper Illbliss
By Fikayo Babalola
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have faced backlash from rapper Illbliss over the World Cup qualifiers.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigerian rapper and actor Illbliss, whose real name is Tobechukwu Ejiofor, has made a scathing comparison, stating that the Super Eagles football team is a mirror image of the country’s ineffective government.
Reacting to the team’s struggles, he said they are a reflection of the nation’s broader issues.
The ‘Aye Po Gan’ hit-maker made these comparisons while reacting to Super Eagles’ embarrassing World Cup qualifier 2-1 defeat in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series on Monday.
On his X page, he wrote, “The Super Eagles is a reflection of the government Lethargic. Inconsistent. Confused…”
Nigeria’s winless streak continues in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, as they are stuck in 5th place in Group C with just 3 points.
Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes suffered a blow as Super Eagles fell 1-2 to Benin Republic’s Squirrels, coached by former Super Eagles’ manager Gernot Rohr, in a shocking defeat at Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Ivory Coast.
Super Eagles struggles continue, with three draws and one loss, leaving them with just three points and a fifth-place standing in Group C.
