EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nigeria took early control of the Round of 16 encounter and translated their dominance into goals in the first half. Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing confidently after a well-coordinated attacking move.
Victor Osimhen doubled Nigeria’s lead five minutes later, calmly converting a pass from Akor Adams to put the Super Eagles firmly in charge before the break.
The pressure continued after halftime as Osimhen struck again in the 47th minute, reacting quickest to another dangerous delivery to make it 3–0 and effectively end Mozambique’s hopes of a comeback.
Nigeria maintained their attacking rhythm and defensive organisation throughout the contest, limiting Mozambique to few clear chances. The fourth goal arrived in the 75th minute when Akor Adams finished neatly after being set up by Lookman to cap a commanding team performance.
Head coach Jose Peseiro introduced Moses Simon, Paul Onuachu, Samuel Chukwueze, Raphael Onyedika and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru as Nigeria managed the game comfortably in the closing stages.
Mozambique made several substitutions in search of a response, but Nigeria’s backline remained solid. Calvin Bassey and Wilfred Ndidi were booked during the encounter, though the cautions did not affect Nigeria’s control of the match.

The emphatic win sends the Super Eagles into the AFCON quarter-finals, where they will face either Algeria, winners of Group E, or DR Congo, runners-up in Group D.
