The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Mustapha Mohammed, for allegedly being in possession of a large cache of suspected explosive materials.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the command’s spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the arrest followed an intelligence-driven operation carried out by operatives of the Task Force on Illegal Mining.

According to him, the operation took place on January 27, 2027, at about 4:15 p.m., when the team, led by ASP Aminu Aliyu, intercepted the suspect while he was driving a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 933 EJ.
A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of 954 pieces of suspected explosive materials concealed in polyethylene bags.
DSP Abubakar stated that preliminary investigations suggest the recovered items were intended for use by bandits as improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

He added that the suspect is currently in police custody, while the explosives have been secured and handed over to the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit for detailed examination.
The police said investigations are ongoing to trace the source and destination of the materials and to identify other individuals who may be connected to the case.
