The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has expressed confidence that northerners will rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Yakasai made the declaration in Akure on Thursday during the inauguration of the Ondo State chapter of the TSG, where Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was formally decorated as the group’s Grand Patron.

He explained that the North owed President Tinubu moral support, given his past political alliances with northern leaders that contributed to previous electoral victories.
“If Asiwaju supported Buhari in 2017 and repeated the same feat with success in 2023, it has become a moral imperative for all of us northerners to reciprocate. It is an honour for us to be morally conscious, morally right, and support his second-term bid,” Yakasai said.
He dismissed criticisms of President Tinubu from certain northern figures, describing them as insignificant and politically motivated.
“If you hear a few voices claiming to oppose President Tinubu, they are mostly people fingered in corruption, fraud, or those who have not found space in government. They represent an infinitesimal fraction of the electorate,” he stated.
Yakasai reaffirmed that the Tinubu Support Group remains the coordinating body for all pro-Tinubu movements nationwide.

“TSG has served and will continue to serve as the coordinating platform for all groups working to promote the Tinubu presidency and secure his re-election,” he said.
In his remarks, the TSG Director-General in Ondo State, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, called on residents and political stakeholders to unite behind the Tinubu administration, noting that Ondo State had benefited from several federal projects under the President’s leadership.
Adegoroye, a former Minister of Transport, listed projects such as the Akure–Ado Road, Ore–Akure Road, Lagos–Calabar Superhighway, Ilesha–Benin Road via Owo and Ose LGAs, Ekiti–Akoko Road, FUTA Teaching Hospital, and the College of Aviation as key gains.
He added that these developments, along with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s performance, would provide a strong foundation for President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign.
Responding, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised members of the TSG as “movers and shakers of Ondo politics,” saying their support would make mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election easier.
He pledged that Ondo State would play a major role in ensuring continuity for the Tinubu administration beyond 2027.
