The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has assured Nigerians of an uninterrupted supply of petrol and diesel during the forthcoming festive season, announcing that its current output now exceeds the nation’s fuel demand.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that in a statement released on Saturday, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, Anthony Chiejina, disclosed that the refinery now produces over 45 million litres of petrol and 25 million litres of diesel daily.

“Our production capacity has surpassed Nigeria’s consumption rate,” Chiejina stated. “We are collaborating with regulators and distributors to ensure smooth and efficient delivery across the country. Dangote remains committed to powering Nigeria’s growth.”

He explained that the increase in domestic refining has helped strengthen the naira by reducing foreign exchange outflows and improving local currency inflows.
Commenting on the federal government’s new tariff policy, Chiejina described it as a necessary measure to protect Nigerian industries from unfair foreign competition and the dumping of substandard petroleum products.
“Dumping destroys jobs and discourages industrial growth,” he warned, calling on authorities to step up efforts to prevent the importation of low-quality fuel that endangers consumers and harms local producers.

Chiejina also commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting the tariff policy, describing it as a bold and visionary move toward achieving energy self-sufficiency and economic revitalisation.
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, assured Nigerians that fuel prices will remain stable throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations, adding that the refinery’s operations have already reduced fuel costs nationwide.
Since beginning petrol production in September 2024, the refinery has contributed to lower prices with petrol now selling between ₦841 and ₦851 per litre, compared to ₦1,030 a year ago, while diesel prices have dropped from ₦1,700 to around ₦1,020 per litre.
