The move comes after a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, where gunmen reportedly killed at least 28 people and injured several others, raising fresh concerns about safety in the state.
Briefing journalists, Information Minister Mohammed Idris said the Federal Government has already activated a coordinated security response to prevent further escalation.
According to him, security forces under Operation Enduring Peace moved swiftly after the attack, securing the area, blocking key routes, and launching operations to track down those responsible.
He added that troop presence has been reinforced, with increased surveillance and joint patrols across vulnerable communities in Plateau and the wider North-Central region.
To further stabilise the situation, the state government has imposed a curfew in parts of Jos, while investigations continue.
Despite the tragic incident, the minister stressed that it does not signal a total breakdown of national security, describing it instead as a criminal act that is being actively addressed.

He assured Nigerians that security agencies are making progress and that those behind the attack will be brought to justice.
The Federal Government also confirmed ongoing security collaboration with the United States to strengthen intelligence gathering and response efforts.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, cooperate with authorities, and avoid spreading unverified information that could worsen tensions.
