Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly dealt a significant blow to suspected members of the Boko Haram, particularly fighters linked to the Sadiku faction, following a fierce gun battle in Niger State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the operation occurred along the Luma Banana axis in Borgu Local Government Area during the early hours of the morning. Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers stormed a suspected hideout and launched a coordinated ambush on the insurgents.

Sources said the militants were taken by surprise as troops surrounded the area and opened fire, leading to a prolonged exchange of gunfire that reportedly lasted several hours.

Several fighters were said to have been neutralised during the confrontation, while others escaped into nearby bushes with gunshot wounds. Security operatives also recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene.
