EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking on a conservative radio programme on Friday, Trump repeated his earlier warning that the United States could launch military action against jihadist militants in Nigeria if the government does not “do more” to protect vulnerable populations.
He said, “Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace. They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it. And we pay, you know, we give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping.”
Trump’s remarks came less than a day after US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth met with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, at the Pentagon. Following the meeting, Hegseth posted on 𝕏 that discussions centred on “the horrific violence against Christians in their country,” adding that the Defence Department was working closely with Nigeria to curb extremist attacks.
The Pentagon later released a statement confirming that the talks highlighted what it described as “tangible progress” in Nigeria’s efforts to combat jihadist groups and strengthen the protection of at-risk communities.

Nigeria has long faced cycles of violence driven by extremist groups, communal tensions and socioeconomic pressures affecting both Christians and Muslims. However, claims of a government-enabled genocide against Christians have gained popularity within right-wing political circles in the United States, fuelling heightened diplomatic tensions between both countries.
