A two-storey building under construction collapsed in Lagos on Thursday, leaving two people dead and five others injured.
The incident occurred at Mega Mall Estate, located on Mobile Road in Inikpa Villa, Ikota, Ajah.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the tragedy, stating that a distress call was received after the structure caved in. Rescue operations were immediately launched at the site, with emergency responders working tirelessly to search for survivors trapped under the rubble.
Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Office Coordinator for NEMA, disclosed that the deceased included an adult and a teenager. He added that the five injured individuals, all men, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Farinloye noted that the immediate cause of the collapse remains unknown, but investigations will be conducted to determine the factors behind the incident. “Information indicates that more people are likely trapped in the rubble. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. A thorough investigation will be carried out to ascertain the cause of the collapse,” he said.
