EKO HOT BLOG reports that the former Rivers governor said the residents had kept their side of the agreement and assured them that he would not fail to meet their expectations.
He said, “Never again will we allow politicians to deceive us, never again will we sit in a place and they come and tell us stories and after voting, you won’t see anybody again; will you allow that to happen again? Agreement is agreement.
“If you say do this for me and when you have done your own, I will not give you excuse, I must do my own.
“One of the things the president wanted us to do is that he does not want to have a Minister of FCT who can’t interact with the people, he wants a minister who will find out from the people what do they want, he will not have a Minister who will sit in their offices without knowing what the people want.
“I have gone to Apo and I said if you do these for us I will come back and say thank you and today we have come to tell you thank you.”
Wike stated that President Tinubu expects an FCT minister who engages directly with residents and understands their needs, rather than one who remains confined to the office.

He reiterated his commitment to maintaining close contact with communities across the capital territory and delivering on promises made during the elections.4
